Legislators announce game-changing investments in Oregon students
This session, Oregon legislators are making unprecedented progress toward addressing our state's school funding crisis. Yesterday, a legislative committee released a plan to make $2 billion in new investments in Oregon classrooms. After 30 years of cutting programs, laying off educators, and disinvesting in our schools, this new funding would help to open doors of opportunity for all Oregon students — whether black, brown, or white.
There's no doubt about it, $2 billion would be a game-changer for Oregon students. With this new funding, we could lower class sizes, expand access to early education, ensure every student can see a mental health counselor, and restore art, music, physical education, and vocational prep. Without $2 billion in new funding, we will fail another generation of Oregon students.
We can't let that happen, which is why we have to show up and speak out for Oregon students. There’s a pivotal hearing happening in Salem at the Capitol next Thursday, April 11. we need you there. Legislators need to hear from you about the importance of raising our bottom-of-the-barrel corporate taxes to transform Oregon schools. RSVP today to put Oregon students first and help us make history!
